Goths in the Garden: A Day with Maria L.

We spent the afternoon with Maria L. in her shadowy Prenzlauer Berg studio — a moodboard come to life. Surrounded by antique mirrors, taxidermy birds, and an incense haze thick enough to cut with a dagger, Maria walked us through her process: slow, intentional, a little haunted. She talked about grief, transformation, and why Berlin’s darkness is the city’s real muse. Also, she made us tea that may or may not have been enchanted.
